8:00am until 4:30pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday
8:00am until 2:30pm Wednesday (some weds opening until 4:30)
Students can access the library throughout the day and during their study halls.
How many books can I borrow from the library?
Students can borrow up to 6 items at any time.
How long can I borrow them for?
You can borrow fiction and non-fiction for 3 weeks.
DVDs, CDs and AudioBooks for 1 week.
Magazines and Reference items cannot be loaned.
How can I find out if there is a particular book in the library?
In three ways:
1) Using the library database, DESTINY from any computer
2) Browsing the shelves
3) Ask the Library staff for assistance

Does the Library have Computers?
The Library has a number of desktops and laptops for students and classes to use throughout the day. All students have their own computer account and are expected to follow the school's 'Computer Use Policy' at all times. Printing, photocopying and scanning facilities are freely available in black & white and full colour.
What are the Library Rules?
Students are expected to follow these rules to ensure that everyone has equal and fair access to the facilities of the Library
DO NOT use your mobile phone for making and receiving phone calls
What if I have an overdue book?
You may not borrow anything further if you have an overdue item. For every day your book is overdue we will charge 5p (per item) up to a maximum fine of £5. You will need to bring in that item to renew it if you wish to keep it longer. Reminder notes will be given to students initially, thereafter parents will be informed by letter / email in regards to very overdue items. If you have lost an item you will be expected to pay the full costs for replacement.

What kind of information does the library have?
- BOOK STOCK
- a large collection of books on a variety of subjects to support your studies. Remember these sources are important authoritative sources which will provide you with easy to find in-depth information on the topics you are looking for.
- ONLINE DATABASES
- all ACS students have access from home and at school to a good range of online sources. These provide full text and abstracts from books, periodicals, newspapers, research papers, e-journals and reference sources. The information in these databases is often more up to date as sources are published in a faster timeframe. These sources are also authoritative.
- AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS
- DVDs - there is a growing collection of DVDs in both English and World Languages. These are provided as visual support for your studies, many of the DVDs are adaptations of books and plays. They are also a fantastic way of improving your language skills. We also have a number of DVDs within the non-fiction collection providing documentary research support for your studies.
- CDs- the library has a new CD collection moved from the Music department to the library to provide a wider range of access for students. The collection is divided into Classical, Jazz, World, Pop and Film/TV music.
- AUDIOBOOKS- the library has a number of Audio versions of books within our collection. These are ideal for you to listen to whilst reading along with the text.
- PERIODICALS
- currently under development, this collection will provide an up to date information source for new developments, research and practises within your subject areas. Information is authoritative and they are great for reading around your subject to provide you with a better understanding of your studies. There are also a number of general interest magazines in the collection provided for when you want a break from your studies.

- Respect others by keeping quiet
- Treat all resources with respect
- Replace all items back on the shelves after use
- Keep furnishings in their correct places and leave the Library tidy
- Issue resources under your own name
- Return items on time to allow equal access for all
- Inform the Library staff if you have lost an item
- Keep your iPad/ laptop / phone to a volume level that your neighbour cannot hear it
